This is a lovely story and relationship you share with the sisters. And completely off topic, but 100 percent correct observation by you and the sisters: I am that man baby.
If I am ever on Jeju Island I will insist on meeting Ava and Sharona! Like the characters in a well-written novel, I feel like I know them and find myself thinking about them long after I finished your essay.
What a beautiful and meaningful compliment on this piece, thank you. <3 Also, I know they would LOVE to meet you. I keep encouraging my friends on the island to join me at their cafe!
As always you have opened the eyes of many...to see the perspective through tender and caring eyes of others who have a lived experience to share. Well done!
This is just the best best best...I never doubted your ability to find people, but that you're being embraced, literally and figuratively, by lovely native Koreans is a testament to the strength of your allure.
I'm sorry I don't read your essays more regularly. They are so engaging and dear. I have some catching up to do!!!
Tina, Thank you for making me smile and starting off my day with this comment. You are such a special sister to me and I appreciate you taking the time to send me this uplifting and encouraging message. Thank you thank you thank you. I love you and miss you!
Thank you, Celeste!!! I LOVE a coffee shop / cafe. They are such a lovely "hub" in a town. Korea has to have the biggest coffee culture in the entire world. It's like nothing I've ever seen... and I love making friends with all of the shop owners!
Another amazing story! Love reading your posts! They sometimes are about small things, but then the way you tell the story they are so much bigger! I love it!
Thank you, Alicia (weep). This means so much to me. I realized I had to start saying in some of them: "This essay isn't really about hair," hahah. I am sometimes surprised where a topic takes me. I am so glad you appreciate it xoxo Thank you always for your support and encouragement!

Thank you so much, Terri - that means so very, very much to me. <3 What other topics are you interested in learning about from my time in Korea?
Jenna!!!!

I love this story. I have moved a lot in North America. I almost always find a coffee shop where I connect with the folks working there.
